Tiff type files are non-lossy, they do not compress the files in any drastic way. File compression that is lossy causes information to be lost, and non-lossy file compression does not. Some say that the dawn of the information-era has brought about a "second renaissance"... What can we say about this? The sculptors and painters of the Renaissance we developing new sciences and arts faster than the scribes could record. Arts merged with sciences and new technologies were discovered. In the present we find separate scientific disciplines collaborating, creating new discoveries, technologies, and practices. Arts which used to provide only presentation are now providing interaction. The boundaries between quantification and abstraction seem to be dissolving. From carving marble, to sculpting information.
